shhh, all is forgiven
There's the Prophet, did you see? Naming names, and I know I ought not be so surprised as I am, but there it is. Summers and Parkinson are probably blowing a top, and I can't say I blame them, necessarily. Still, whole thing's a bit dodgy, like. Especially since the Prophet made loads of thinly veiled accusations without outright stating much of anything or providing any facts. Hysteria where? Hysteria to me... dunno, I think riots in the streets or a flood of people in the Ministry complaining. Crimes, ransacking, assaults. A boatload of howlers doesn't quite count hysteria, if you ask me, and the article suggesting it was done on purpose is a whole new level of both worrisome and unfounded.

I don't doubt the idea that someone like Parki that the Ministry would be vile and back-handed enough to do things like this, but where's the proof? And come to think, who exactly are the people that can't be using their wands? Maybe they ought not be using them anyway, yeah?

It's not a day to go by lately where I don't wish I was eleven again. Things were simplier then; I was too ignorant and young to understand what a clusterfuck everyone's in.

On to the more cheerful: my birthday was the 18th, which means I'm 18 now and of age to drink! Of course, in my mind, I've been "of age" for quite a few of them years now, but never mind that. You lot owe me drinks and I'm up to collect! Who's keen to getting thoroughly pissed with me and sing a few traditionals while stumbling home in a mess?

idea striketh, calling time out
Calvin Nero's an eejit, just like the rest of them.

We need to rest on the security and protection of our traditions? Which traditions, exactly? I'm dead certain our "traditions" as a wizarding community leant to the mess at the begin of it, yeah? What else were the Death Eaters and You-Know-Who harping about more than the purity of the race, of sustaining the intended path of magic with pure blood? I swear I wouldn't wipe my arse with half the politicians we've got vying for the big spots in the Ministry, but that bloke's clearly already full of enough shite to last him an age (or a term).

A long tradition of prejudice, narrow-mindness and a habitual attempt to cover up the failings of our leaders is what got us into the horse pile to begin with, and now this twat wants to go back. Back to Inquistitional Squads in our schools and dark wizards torturing the students? Back to Death Eaters using their gold to hold weight in the courts and political world, eh? That's the glorious fucking tradition we have as of now, and it didn't protect us any. Didn't even protect Dumbledore, God resting his soul.

It's a proven fact that history does tend to repeat itself in a widescale - economics, war, the like - but change is what progresses society itself, so what's the bleeding hold up? Tradition's scary these days. I got the crap beat out of me in its name, my mate had to run off into hiding over it, Harry nearly died to fight off the problems sticking to it brought.

I can't even open up the Prophet these days without getting red under the collar. Brazil's looking better and better. Lasses and footie and sun and I'm not fooling meself at all because there's probably wankers in office there, too.

What say, everyone? You, me, deserted island? We could start clean. Make weekend parties mandatory by law, clothes optional, lower the drinking age - that I'm only following if anyone asks, mind - make quidditch (playing or attending) everyone's official job...

... I'll be over here all glassy eyed, like.
